Ginger Peach Vodka Cocktail | National Vodka Day
Happy National Vodka Day, y’all! And it’s Friday? Even better. It’s been a hot minute since I’ve created and shared a new cocktail with y’all, so why not do that today? I had some pretty good inspiration for this one. So let’s check out this Ginger Peach vodka cocktail.
For this cocktail, I’m featuring Dixie Peach Vodka. It’s their newest flavor that was released earlier this year. It takes their six-times distilled Southern vodka and infuses it with fresh peaches, straight from Lane Southern Orchards in Georgia. It smells and tastes just like biting into a peach.
I stumbled upon Dixie Vodka on Instagram back in the spring, and then met their Tennessee marketing manager, Adam, at a tasting here in Chattanooga. Adam recently joined me for an episode of my podcast, in which we chatted about all things vodka, and a little about whiskey. Check out that episode here if you want to hear more about Dixie Vodka and their flavors.
Side note: if you think Dixie Vodka sounds familiar, it’s been featured in a cocktail on here before. Check out this Dixie Citrus Smash for more vodka cocktail inspiration.
Celebrate National Vodka Day with a Ginger Peach Vodka Cocktail
My thought process started at a classic cocktail: the gimlet. Gimlets are simple enough: vodka (or gin), simple syrup, and lime juice. But that seemed too easy, so I thought about my usual go-to, the Old Fashioned. A far cry from a gimlet, sure, but maybe I could find a way to fuse them into one cocktail. I wanted the simplicity of the gimlet, combined with the method of the Old Fashioned. It made sense in my head, I promise.
I don’t know about where y’all live, but in Tennessee, it still feels like summer. Temperatures might have dipped below 90 a handful of times since Labor Day, and only by a few degrees. Y’all know I love my peach, but it’s October; even though it’s still pretty hot outside, let’s tone that summer vibe down a little bit.
When I started to think about a peach vodka cocktail, I thought about bringing in seasonal flavors that would make this feel and taste more like fall. Did y’all ever drink that Ginger Peach Republic of Tea that Panera always has? For some reason, that was the first flavor that came to mind, so that became my jumping off point. That led me to peach vodka, ginger liqueur, and fresh rosemary (that I grew myself!).
Let’s make this ginger peach vodka cocktail.
This is a pretty easy cocktail to mix up. For ginger liqueur, I use Big O Ginger Liqueur, which has also made an appearance on the blog in the past. For topping, I tend to prefer ginger ale, but ginger beer works great if you like more of a kick.
To make this vodka cocktail, you will need a rocks or lowball glass, a jigger, cocktail spoon, and muddler. Most bartender kits will come with those last three items.
