Hamburger Dip
This warm, cheesy Hamburger Dip is perfect for late summer, almost fall snack spreads! It’s everything you love about a good burger in a dippable form. So if you’ve got any Labor Day Weekend plans coming up, be sure to put this on your menu.
Whether you’re heading to a tailgate, hosting a little gathering, or bringing a dish to a friend’s house, my Hamburger Dip is the perfect dish for any occasion.
My mom used to make this dip often when I was in high school and home from college. I don’t remember where she first found the original recipe, but it’s been a favorite ever since. It’s quick and easy to make, and is always a crowd pleaser!
With tailgating season coming up, it seemed like the perfect time to share this recipe. Whether you’re able to tailgate at your alma mater or anywhere in your area, or if you choose to keep it small close to home, Hamburger Dip makes a great addition to any tailgate spread. It’s warm and hearty, so it’ll hit the spot on cooler days. Even on warmer days, it’ll keep you full, and pairs well with just about any tailgate beverage of choice!
As far as serving and dipping goes, there are tons of options to go with Hamburger Dip! We’ve historically served it with good, thick crackers or tortilla chips. “Scoop” chips work really well here. One time my mom served this with cornbread crackers, and talk about delicious. If you want to get really creative, you could serve this with some toasted bread wedges, or even cut up some burger buns into dippers and toast those. I might actually try that myself next time!
How to Make Hamburger Dip
You will need:
- Ground beef (or turkey)
- Cream cheese
- Tomato sauce
- Ketchup
- Mustard
- Salt
- Pepper
- Spices of choice
- Garnishes of choice
- Crackers, chips, or bread for dipping
Once you have all your ingredients, making this Hamburger Dip could not be easier!
First, cook the ground beef. Brown the beef in a large skillet or sauté pan. Once cooked, drain the grease and return to low heat.
Add the cream cheese. Cut the cream cheese into cubes and add to the cooked beef. Let it soften, then mix it into the beef.
Add remaining ingredients. Add the ketchup, mustard, tomato sauce, and spices, and stir to combine. The dip will be thick. You can add more tomato sauce if you would like it less thick.
Serve warm. Transfer the dip to your preferred serving vessel. Serve it warm with crackers, chips, bread, toast wedges, or toasted burger buns. Garnish with your favorite burger toppings.
This Hamburger Dip lasts about a week in the refrigerator. Just keep it in a sealed container, and reheat in the microwave in 20-second intervals until warm.
Whether you’re tailgating, hosting friends, or heading to a friend’s house, this Hamburger Dip is a deliciously perfect addition to the menu.
