Hi, my name is Kate. And last year, I wrote what will one day be my debut novel. All I’ve ever wanted to do with my life is write stories about real people — stories that make you think, laugh, and feel. When I was 12, I proclaimed that I’d be a New York Times best-seller one day. I’ve started and shelved many attempts at novels throughout my life. This is the only one I’ve ever finished because I truly believe in it — because the characters and saga have lived in my head (in some form) for more than a decade. Writing this has been equal parts therapy, creative outlet, and work toward a dream. 2025 was not kind to me: health issues, heartbreaking losses, the rollercoaster that is entrepreneurship, waiting for the next bad thing to happen. But it gave me this, and this kept me sane through all of it. Instead of losing my own mind, I wrote about other people losing theirs. It helped — who knew? If you’re into classical music, self-discovery, healing, resilience, and a good love story, then I hope this will live on your bookshelf one day. I’ve just wrapped up draft 3. I set a goal to read 25 books this year. That’s more than I’ve read in the last several years combined. (To be clear, I read a lot, just not always books and novels.) Well, it’s December 15 and I’ve read 35 books in 2025, and I’m quite proud of myself. 🥳 Here’s a glimpse of some of my top reads of the year. Amazing characters, incredible world-building, stories that made me audibly gasp.
