Orange Spice Tea Latte
It’s the holiday season, and it’s finally getting cold here in Tennessee. In fact, we’ve had several quite chilly days in the last few weeks, and there were even sightings of some snow flurries last week! I’ll pass on the snow, but bring on the warm spices and hot drinks!
I’ve been consuming lots of hot drinks lately, as I’ve been battling a little cold and sinus infection (right before the holidays, naturally). Lots of herbal teas loaded with lemon and honey, specifically. Today’s recipe is a bit more indulgent, and one I hope you’ll enjoy as much as I do!
My fall holiday baking (and cooking, and drinking) begins September 1st, and goes until December, when I switch to all Christmas everything. That gives me lots of opportunities to play and experiment in my kitchen, and create lots of delicious things to share with my friends and family.
Over the last few years, I’ve built up quite the arsenal of special holiday recipes, many of which I’ve shared here, but just as many that I haven’t yet. Today’s recipe is one such recipe, so I’m excited to finally debut it (albeit a year later)!
I created this Orange Spice Tea Latte last fall, thanks to an over-abundance of orange spice tea in my tea drawer (yes, I have a tea drawer). To be honest, it’s not my favorite tea flavor, but I somehow acquired a whole lot of it, so I wanted to find a tasty way to use it.
Related: I also shared these 4 fabulous fall drinks last year, and they’re still delicious. Especially that fall sangria.
My other inspiration for this tea latte was a London Fog, which is basically an Earl Grey tea latte. Surely I could achieve a similar effect with a different flavor of tea, and a little added spice. I experimented with different levels of spice, and eventually landed on the balance in this recipe. Star anise isn’t one of my favorites, either, but it works nicely here with the cinnamon and cloves. Of course, you can go heavier on any of the flavors if you like them more!
Here’s how to make my Orange Spice Tea Latte!
You don’t have to froth your milk for this latte, but it makes it feel a little fancier if you do. I have a hand-held milk frother (similar to this one) that I picked up at Target for under $10. I’ve also read that you can froth milk in a French press coffee maker, but I haven’t tried that myself. Just be sure to froth your milk after it’s been warmed, but before it cools down too much!
The spices will warm you right up on cold afternoons and evenings. If you like this recipe, I just released my first FREE ebook with four more delicious fall/holiday recipes.
